In the first 12 games of the season, the Golden State Warriors have shown what makes them contenders, and what might keep them from contending. They won five of their first seven on the road, easily performing better away from home than last season. They did it with grit, poise and otherworldly performances by Stephen Curry. They’ve also won with the bench either maintaining leads or spearheading comebacks in the non-Curry minutes. They’ve also shown why they aren’t fully solidified as contenders thus far. In their six losses, the Warriors’ lack of size has been a painful highlight but not the most concerning. It’s in their struggles to score.Golden State is now 6-6 and in the middle of a four-game losing streak. In three of these games, they shot under 40 percent from the field. Granted, it’s early in the season and it’s a small sample size but I’m wondering if this is more of a slump and it’s just an outlier, or if it is the result of how they are being defended. There’s a case to b...The 10 most expensive reported home sales in Palo Alto the week of Nov. 6

As much as Alec Baldwin has insisted he was not responsible for the shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, he considered taking a plea last month in the two-year-old case, which has led to critics branding him a “killer” and has put his long-heralded film and TV career in jeopardy.NBC News, citing two sources, reported Wednesday that Baldwin and special prosecutors in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, had discussed his taking a plea deal in the October 2021 shooting on the set of the Western film “Rust.” It’s not known what charges Baldwin considered as part of a plea deal, according to NBC News. But the talks ended when special prosecutors announced last month that “additional facts have come to light,” which they believe shows that Baldwin has “criminal culpability” in Hutchins’ death. Prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis also said that they would convene a special grand jury to consider whether to recharge Ba...Oakland A’s fans won’t surrender after MLB owners’ relocation vote

A’s fans awoke Thursday morning to the news that MLB owners had unanimously approved the team owner’s request to move out of Oakland. There was sadness. More outrage directed at John Fisher. But no surprise. And definitely no surrender.“If you know anything about A’s fans, they are powerful and creative,” said Bryan Johansen, one of the founders of the “Last Dive Bar” A’s fan club. “There’s a lot of stuff that is going to go into the pot, and it’s simmering.“They messed with the wrong fan base.”In a social media post, the Oakland 68s fan group said, “We take our representation of the Oakland A’s fanbase very seriously and right now it’s hard to be diplomatic, especially when MLB and the A’s are turning their backs on one of the most diverse cities in America … We will challenge this relocation and seek to disrupt it in any way possible.”The results of the 30-0 decision came on the final day of the winter owners meetings in Arlington, Texas. For many, it was just part of being an ...70 protesters cited after Bay Bridge shut down Thursday
