DENVER (KDVR) -- Colorado's auto theft problem might be improving, but it's still miles away from good. Auto thefts fell in the first months of 2023 compared to the same time period in 2022. Auto thefts in the first quarter of 2023 were down 22% from the same quarter last year, which are close to the number from the first quarter of 2020.CSP reminds Coloradans not to get complacent since auto theft is still elevated from prepandemic level. “The noticeable decline of auto theft is a testament to the resiliency of our citizens and the collaborative effort of many law enforcement and key partners across the State,” Matthew C. Packard, chief of the Colorado State Patrol, said in a release. “However, now is no time to rest and relax your vehicle securities. CATPA and the Colorado State Patrol ask you to continue to stay in this fight to reduce auto theft and overall crime in your communities.”The Denver metro area, which is the area with the most auto theft, has seen one of the biggest d...Air quality health advisory to affect multiple counties Thursday

Cities and towns that help fund the MBTA are concerned it will be “impossible” to restore pre-pandemic service levels and that the agency might need to hike fares given the growing shadow of a budget shortfall that officials so far have failed to address. The MBTA Advisory Board, a group that represents municipalities that contribute financially to the transit agency and are served by it, highlighted several red flags in its review of the T’s latest budget proposals, including a sluggish hiring pace.MBTA officials are weighing a $2.72 billion preliminary budget for fiscal year 2024 that would increase spending by nearly 7 percent and use $261 million in one-time funds to close a gap.Even after MBTA budget-writers revised their fare projections downward in the draft budget proposal, the advisory board pondered whether the latest projection is “too optimistic” given that ridership has plateaued on the subways in particular.“Overal...Supreme Court rules against Andy Warhol’s foundation in a case about a portrait he made of Prince

The case involved images Warhol created of Prince as part of a 1984 commission for Vanity Fair. Warhol used one of Goldsmith’s photos as a starting point, a so-called artist reference, and Vanity Fair paid Goldsmith to li...Latest news
